West Texas Wind Farm

West Texas Wind Farm

To date, Equix has trenched over 300,000 linear feet of hard limestone rock in Phase I for this large-scale wind farm, which is already operational. An additional 600,000 feet of trenching for Phase II construction of this clean energy project is currently underway. We expect to complete construction in August, and upon which the power utility will connect the remaining turbines to the electrical grid.

The West Texas Wind Farm spans 60,000 acres and will produce approximately 500 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy through 162 2.82 MW and 18 2.32 MW turbines, a total of 180 when it is fully complete.

Equix has two crews with more than 80 people assigned to the project, and together they have 100-plus years of construction and trenching experience. They are operating some heavy machinery like Trencor, Caterpillar, SCAIP, and John Deere using excavators, padding machines, dozers, trenchers, and more, including our sizeable 250,000 pounds and 750 horsepower trencher.
