A Safety Coordinator’s Run for the Fallen

Randy has been the Safety Coordinator at Equix’s Energy Services division since October of 2019, and he recently participated in the first-ever Florida Run For The Fallen. Before beginning his career at Equix, Randy worked as a Safety Manager in the Smokey Mountains for a lumber company, and before that, he served 21 years in the United States Army.  Randy was deployed on three, year-long deployments to Iraq and two to Afghanistan. AMAZING DRONE FOOTAGE OF WIND FARM PROJECT!

In late 2019, Equix earned the amazing opportunity to be the construction partner on a 63-turbine wind project in South Texas. Our crews completed a wide scope of work, and we are proud of the quality work we’ve produced to date. In order to complete this project, Equix Energy trenched in 77 miles of electrical collection systems and fiber and completed over 12,000 feet of directional bores. Equix Infrastructure completed construction of 36 miles of access roads, produced and installed over 41,000 cubic yards of concrete for 63 wind turbine foundations, and installed 25 junction boxes and 63 pad-mount transformers!

GOING THE EXTRA MILE!

UNDERGROUND EXPERIENCE FROM THE SURFACE Sometimes a virtual experience can be better than a first-hand encounter. Just ask two inquisitive boys who encountered our cross-bore inspection technicians in Jacksonville, FL. Encouraged by their grandparents, the boys asked questions about what the crew was doing. Our technicians Keita and Tim explained how a remote-controlled camera lets them check whether 10-year-old natural gas lines had ever breached sewer lines in the neighborhood. Being 6 and 8, the boys asked to hop into the manhole to check it out for themselves. We think our work is pretty cool, too, but we value safety
